How To Fit Maintenance Into Your Already Packed Schedule

How To Fit Maintenance Into Your Already Packed Schedule

You find yourself asking how do I add something else into my already packed schedule?!

How do I do it all?!

Well, spoiler alert: you don’t fit everything in. And that’s not your fault.

The idea that women can (and should) do all the things to be the perfect partner, mother, friend, sibling, daughter and somehow fit in flawless nutrition and fitness on top? That’s a trap. A trap fuelled by perfectionism and all-or-nothing thinking. And it’s the one thing that holds so many women back from making progress.

Here’s the truth: there will always be things that matter and things that don’t. Your job is to figure out which is which.

The Trap of Doing It All

When you find yourself panicking over the lone sock that’s been haunting your laundry basket for a week, or racing around like a blue-arsed fly trying to tick every box on your to-do list, see if you can pause and ask:

  • How important is this really?
  • How important is it that it’s done right now?

That constant stress you feel? It’s not because you’re lazy or disorganised. It’s not because you “can’t handle it.” It’s because perfectionism is whispering that you have to do all the things, perfectly, all of the time. And perfectionism lies.

The “Good Enough” Framework

This is where I use what I call the Good Enough Framework. It’s simple:

  1. Notice when perfectionism or all-or-nothing thinking is running the show.
  2. Ask yourself: If I only did this “good enough,” what would that look like?
  3. The do that version — and let it be enough.

Sometimes that looks like “mostly tidy” instead of spotless. Sometimes it’s deciding that unmatched socks can wait until tomorrow, or just throw the rogue one away and be done with it.

And when it comes to nutrition? It means you don’t have to nail it all at once.

Applying This to Macros

Here’s how “good enough” works with macros:

  • This week: track breakfast.
  • Next week: add lunch.
  • Over time: build up to a full day.

Progress might feel slower. And that’s okay. Because slower and sustainable beats fast and burnout every single time.

The Bottom Line

There’s nothing wrong with you. You don’t need to be perfect, and you don’t need to do it all. You just need to focus on what matters, let go of what doesn’t, and apply the Good Enough Framework.

👉 This week’s challenge: Choose one thing to do “good enough.” Maybe that’s tracking just one meal, or making one family dinner a little more macro-friendly. That’s how you build a lifestyle you can actually keep.
